At Light Oaks Junior School, we aim to provide a learning environment in which children can engage in physical activity to build character and resilience, as well as embedding values such as respect and fairness.
We believe that every child should have the opportunity to develop the confidence and competence to enjoy physical activity, to develop their skills and interests and to be part of a wider community of active and competitive young people; leading to an active and healthy life.

We have also been selected as a case study in sporting excellence presented to the Greater Manchester Sport partnership, for our use of the Sport Premium and our wider work with healthy lifestyles, wellbeing and the promotion of PE and sport. A copy of the case study can be accessed below.

Every year, we monitor how active our children are so that we know that our work is making a difference to as many children as possible, and so we can plan for the coming year. Our sport crew also tell us about their views and come up with great ideas for making children active and helping them all to access fun, activities in school and out of school. Our active lives report is below which shows how we are doing and what the children in our school think about sport and active lifestyles.
We are proud to announce that Light Oaks Junior School has received the Sainsbury's School Games Gold Award for the fourth year running for our participation in school sport across the school Well done to everyone who has been involved in sport and helped us to acheive this prestigious award!
