Welcome
Welcome to Light Oaks Junior School where we promote Respect, Resilience and Responsibility as our key values. We are an inclusive school where wellbeing and mental health is a key priority and our high expectations ensure that our pupils leave us ready for the next stage of their education, both academically, personally and socially.
This year, we are continuing to work towards the Gold Emotionally Friendly Schools Award and continuing our partnership with UNICEF through our Rights Respecting School work. This means we are focusing on our children's emotional wellbeing and helping them to stay healthy both physically and mentally, and making sure all of our pupils know their own - and respect each others'- rights. We are supplementing this offer by hoping to become a School of Sanctuary through focusing on our work on diversity.
We are also pleased to announce that we are now a Platinum School Games accredited school and we will continue our high-profile sport and PE work in Salford and beyond.
We have developed an ambitious curriculum and we will be continuing to make sure this is improved and adapted to the needs of our learning community. We are passionate that all pupils should learn well and ensure that we adapt our curriculum and our teaching so that all pupils are ready for the next stage of their learning.
We are proud that our teaching staff and leaders work tirelessly to improve teaching and learning across the school, making sure that all of our training and development is based on clear research and best practice. We want to make our teaching efficient and effective; making sure that our children can do more, know more and remember more, across each year and throughout their junior school experience.
We are continually improving our educational offer, our curriculum and our enrichment opportunities. We are a restless school and will always seek to improve everything we do.
This year we are refreshing our English curriculums - reading, writing and oracy in particular. We are also revisiting assessment and making sure this is used well by teachers to provide good progress in all lessons.
