GMP have made us aware of an issue involving children using the website Omegle.com or Omegle States (USA). It is an online chat room which needs no registration process whatsoever, and is often linked with other ‘copycat’ sites involving significant adult content. The site matches you with a stranger, and you simply click and go to start chatting, and this includes video chat. There is an information sheet on the e-safety section of our website with more detail, which highlights the risk of how easy it is for children to become vulnerable.
Cancelled due to rain 14th & 15th June. New dates 21st & 22nd June!
Ofsted have highlighted attendance as an area for us to improve on. Please help your chidlren to come into school every day and on time. A reminder that school starts at 8.55am NOT 9:00am! Thanks.
The official letter which outlines the results of the Inspection Findings conducted on 15th March 2016 is now available on our website and will be live on the Ofsted Website from Monday. You can access a copy on the Ofsted page on our Website.
All of our children should be very proud of themselves - our special visitor really enjoyed talking to them on Tuesday and was very impresed with all of the children he met. We are just waiting for his letter to parents to arrive so that we can let everyone know what his findings were. As soon as we receive the letter, we will post a copy home and on our website. I know everyone really enjoyed showing the Inspector our school and were really proud of all the good learning and work we do. Well done!
Welcome to our Ofsted Inspector who will be visiting school tomorrow to see just how wonderful our children are. Good luck everyone and enjoy being amazing!
Well done to everyone who participated in World Book Week - we had a fabulous pyjama day and all of us read lots and lots of books! Well done also to the winners of the fantastic book-in-a-box competition. There were so many excellent entries, we didn't know who to choose! The winners are now on display in the library.
We introduced board games outside today to give children an extra activity to do at lunchtimes. They have been very popular and the children played really well today - and looked after the games superbly! Well done everyone; I know you will continue to enjoy playing these games with your friends.
We are currently reviewing our playground provision and are planning some new changes. Now that we need more space due to being completely full, we are planning to expand the playground into the wildlife area and incorporate the pathway into playing space, we want to build a 'trim trail' and we have already begun work on a shelter next to the anti-smoking wall for chidlren to read, write and draw under as a quiet space at lunchtimes and playtimes. We are also FINALLY at the planning stage for our all-weather provision on the field, which will given us space for 3 ball games at once! Thank you for your patience during this time of transition - it will definitely be worth it once the changes have been made.
Welcome to our family learning week - I hope you all enjoy learning about staying safe online with your chidlren. Remember Monday: Y6, Tuesday: Y4, Wednesday: Y3 & Thursday: Y5.
It is our British History Week this week when children get the opportunity of learning about an aspect of British History in our local area. Ask your children what they have learned this week about Salford and Manchester!
Remember we have open evenings this week where you can see children's books and talk informally to teachers - Year 3 on Monday 11th, Y4 on Tuesday 12th and Y5 on Wednesday 13th. A big thank you to all the parents who came to the Y6 SATS information meeting last week - I hope it was informative and useful.
It was a real joy to hear all the wonderful words of thanks that the children wrote for their whole school wellbeing homework over Christmas. We asked them to make a Thank You card for someone in school who has done something that has shown respect and caring towards them over the past year. The children made cards for friends, teachers, teaching assistants and office staff. What a lovely celebration of wellbeing across the school. And a great big THANK YOU to everyone who took part.
A great big THANK YOU to everyone who came to our Christmas Fair, and for all the hard work done by the staff and volunteers who gave up their time to make it such an enjoyable event. We had a fabulous time on the Junior site - a special mention must go to all of the amazing singers in our choir who kept us full of Christmas Spirit throughout the day!
It was wonderful to see so many parents at our parents' evenings over the past two weeks. I hope they were informative and positive! Remember that if you have any concerns or just want to know a little bit more about anything in school, or about how your child is doing, we are always glad to speak to parents. Just make an appointment either through your class teacher, or at the office.
This week is Anti-bullying week. We are focusing on getting chidlren to TELL someone. PLease could parents help by discussing with children how important it is to tell someone at school about anything that is bothering them, if they have been hurt, if someone has been mean to them, or if they feel that they, or someone else has been bullied. Ask them to tell you the name of a member of staff they could go to if they need to tell someone anything about school.
In collaboration with Manchester University, we are proud to be hosting a group of 30 Chinese teachers on Wednesday 11th November. They are coming to look at how we teach children in our school, so watch this space for what happened!
A reminder that our parents' evenings are coming up over the next two weeks - letters will be arriving home early this week! The meetings are on Tuesday 10th November (3.30-7pm) and Thursday 19th November (3.30 - 6pm).
